QUEENSBURY Lucy S. Goldman, 89, of Robert Gardens North, Queensbury, passed away Wednesday morning, April 9, 2008, at Eden Park Health Care Center in Glens Falls.
Born June 30, 1918, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Raffaele and Nicoletta (Martuscelli) Saccoccio.
Lucy was always a very independent woman who was way ahead of her time, especially in style and fashion. She had a strong determined character proudly presenting herself as a "spitfire" who enjoyed working, and in her spare time, gardening and horseback riding.
On June 6, 1960, Lucy, who was known as his "Darling," married Jack Goldman in the Bronx. Jack treated her like a queen, sharing 10 to 15 wonderful years together before his passing in the 1970s.
Being a career woman all of her life, Lucy started working in a Manhattan bank, then for Teletone, a television company during the 1950s, also in Manhattan. Lucy then became her husband's office manager for his printing company, Acme Impressions Inc., in Lower Manhattan. After Jack's stroke, Lucy continued to manage Jack's business, merging it with another company, Advanced Graphic Service and relocating to Long Island City.
After retirement, Lucy moved to Robert Gardens in Queensbury, to be closer to her family. She adored children and was very close to her nieces and nephews, often times expressing generosity to them in whatever way was needed, and by taking them with her on trips back to Manhattan. While in Queensbury, a ritual soon started with her niece, Cathy, who took her to Sutton's Market Place where she loved to shop and get a bite to eat. She also loved to read, and watch Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy movies. She was loved by everyone who met her, and like wise, cherished her acquired friendships. She will be sorely missed.
Besides her parents and her beloved husband, five siblings have also predeceased her.
Survivors include her sister, Claire Anunziato and her two daughters, Catherine Maccagnano and Linda Anunziato, and their sons, Troy and Raffaele, who Lucy adored, all living in Queensbury; also several other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, with special mention of Tom Re with whom she worked.
Friends may call on the family Friday, April 11, from 5 to
7 p.m. at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A memorial will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Busch, pastor of Church of Our Lady of The Annunciation, Queensbury, officiating.
Donations, in Lucy's memory, may be made to Eden Park Health Care Center Activities Fund, 170 Warren St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Eden Park Third Floor, for their professional care given to Lucy in her three month stay.
Condolences may be e-mailed through www.bakerfuneral
