CLOSED-Harvey Family Funeral Home Obituary

Lucy Pearl Bozanich Visich

November 28, 1924 – October 26, 2018

Lucy passed away on October 26, 2018, just a month shy of her 94th birthday. She was born on November 28, 1924, in Seattle, and spent the majority of her life on Queen Anne Hill. A lifelong baseball fan, she often shared memories of attending double headers of the Seattle Rainiers (known then as the Seattle Indians) at Civic Stadium in lower Queen Anne. In later years, you could always count on Lucy to be carrying a Mariners schedule in her purse.

Along with her siblings she attended Queen Anne high school and graduated in 1943. She enjoyed attending their reunions and stayed in touch with many classmates throughout the years. After graduating high school, Lucy worked for the government to support the war effort.

Lucy’s parents emigrated from Croatia/Yugoslavia before she was born and were very proud of their heritage. In 1949, Lucy met her husband, Philip Visich, at a Yugoslavian community 4th of July picnic. They were married in 1950 and had three children, John, Kathy and Barbara. Lucy loved taking her children to Little Howe park near their home on Queen Anne, where four generations of the family have now played. After their kids were older, Lucy and Philip could be found most Saturday nights dancing to big band music at the Seattle Center House. They enjoyed 33 years of wedded bliss together until Philip passed away in 1983.

After Philip’s death, Lucy decided to go back to work at Hancock Fabrics. Lucy was an excellent seamstress and her children and grandchildren benefitted with beautiful clothes, Halloween costumes, and doll outfits. Following her retirement, Lucy travelled frequently to visit her daughter Kathy and her family in Texas. She was also able to fulfill a lifelong goal to travel to Europe, including Croatia, twice.

Lucy was a parishioner of both St. Anne’s and Sacred Heart churches in Seattle. She volunteered frequently throughout her life at church, schools and various community programs.

Lucy has been described by friends and family as an optimistic, independent lady who was full of life and love for all. Lucy was loved by many and will by dearly missed.

Lucy is survived by her son John and daughters Kathy Coan and Barbara Brzoska (Ken); grandchildren Carole Roane (Erick), Renee Kurdzos (Kevan), Monica Coan, Ben Coan, Michelle Betts (Mark), Philip Brzoska and Sean Brzoska; great-grandchildren, Connor, Spencer and Elizabeth Roane, and Zoe and Margaret Kurdzos. She is preceded in death by her husband, Philip Visich; her siblings, Donna “Minnie” Voolich, Tony Bozanich, and Louie Bozanich; her daughter-in-law Kathy Visich and her son-in-law Steve Coan.

Recitation of the Rosary will be Sunday, November 4th at 7:00 PM and Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 5th at 10:30 AM, BOTH at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 9460 NE 14th St, Bellevue 98004.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center or the charity of your choice.
