Luis Villalobos was born on November 20, 1955 to Domingo and Francisca Villalobos in Taft, Texas. He joined his parents in Heaven on April 27, 2009. He was a graduate of Taft High School and moved to Austin to continue his education at University of Texas at Austin while working construction. Never forgetting where he came from, he spent a lot of time in Taft including every Taft High School Homecoming game. Luis worked at the Austin Police Department for over 16 years in the Crime and Drug Units. He eventually joined the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office and then All Faiths Funeral Services where he worked for over 6 years. His favorites included; the color blue, yellow roses, carrot cake, UT football, maple and brown sugar oatmeal and chicharron and bean breakfast tacos. Luis had many hobbies. He volunteered with the Special Olympics, Blue Santa and Explorer Post where he worked with children who wanted to become police officers. He loved Tejano and Old Country music especially Patsy Cline. He loved dancing even more than the music itself. Outside of work, he was a mechanic who enjoyed watching and working on the 70’s style muscle cars and was also an accomplished carpenter. He loved vacationing in Mexico and Costa Rica, where he spent several months doing translation work. The amazing traits that he had shined like beacons of light and every person he knew learned how to be a better person from him. He was kind, compassionate, giving, loving, happy, eternally patient, and so very humble. Not only did Luis befriend people that others would not, he would give the shirt off his back and the last five dollars in his pocket to a complete stranger if he felt they needed it and expected nothing in return. His friends and family admirably listened to his words of wisdom especially when he was teaching them (or showing them through his own actions) how to treat each other. He was never judgmental, he told others often “Who you are, is who you are. Be yourself. Luis was preceded in death by his parents, Domingo and Francisca. He is survived by two children; Luis Villalobos, and Valerie Villalobos, and 5 grandchildren; Donovan, Nasario, Illiana, Isabella, and Emmalina Luisa, and many friends and coworkers that considered themselves to be a part of his family. He loved his family so much that he worked through illness, cancer, chemotherapy and even up to 2 weeks before his death to help support them in every way he could. Just before he passed away, Luis wrote this letter to his friends at work. It only begins to show the amazing person that Luis should be remembered as: "I wanted to write each and every one of you a note to thank you for everything you do for me but it would take a long time. So I will wait to do so in the future. I appreciate each and every one of you. You will never know how much you inspire me and give me strength everyday. No matter how sick or how much I hurt knowing that I will see or speak to you gives me strength to come into work every day. I look forward to working with you and in some small way be able to help. Thank you for all the kindness you all show me everyday. I don't know how I could ever repay that but I will try by being there for you. Each and every one of you holds a special place in my heart. I pray everyday that you all will have an enriched life and that all your dreams will come true. You certainly have done that for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. If there was a word that was stronger than I LOVE YOU I would use it. And until I find it, I LOVE YOU will have to do. Thanks again, Eternally Grateful your friend for life Luis. "

Not sure what to say?

My Dad would be 65 this year. I still think of him all the time. Love you, Dad.

Eleven years now, and I still feel that sharp pain. However, I still feel proud to be his baby doll. I try to keep you alive every day, Daddy. I hope you are proud, and I hope you are taking care of my baby boy. I love you so much!

Once in a lifetime friendship that runs so deep! I loved your soul, your heart, everything about you. I miss you so much dear friend! We shared so many memories to look back on - Luis and Valerie since they were babies; visiting you at overtime assignment (usually wee hours of the morning). Visiting you at Fiesta on holidays with Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner because you missed out. Going to Wurstfest (my daughter still remembers those times), just being there, to talk, cry, vent. I...

I barely knew Luis, but I am glad to hear he has touched so many lives so willingly and openly. The little that I do remeber of him was all so amazing. I'm proud to call him my grandfather!

I'm sorry i was not in contact more often,

I meet Luis in 96 working security while he worked APD. Luis was the best person. He was strong but compassionate to all. A role model for all. I remember him always available to those in need. there for those in need of a dollar , a ride, in need of advice , those in need of a shoulder to hang on to in a bad time. I have rarely meet someone so willing to give. He was an example to us all. I will miss my friend.

I am so glad to see that my dad touches so many lives, even after his passing. It is a great thing to know that his kindness and good works are still working through the people whose lives he touched. To all those that keep him alive by passing along his words of wisdom and his selflessness: Thank you!

I love you, Daddy.
