He was better known as, Doc in High school . He played football! His real name is Milton Askew Jr. They changed it to " LUKE " for movie industry!

I met Luke in Portland at the hospital. A kind, wonderful man. I think about him often and you too Maggie.

Luke was my first cousin as his mother and my father were siblings. He was older, but I knew him when I was a youngster until he left Macon. In my youth, I was privileged to see him act in a couple of playe in Macon and even at that young age I recognized his talent. I still have a few photos of us together, but regret, not staying closer in touch and seeing him more through the years as I matured. Like many others, the older I get the more reflective I become and long to visit with relatives...

I've been a fan of westerns all my life, it's how I discovered Luke. Then I noticed him in all his roles most notably in the classic Cool Hand Luke as Boss Paul. Great that he lives on in reruns of his many roles.

A personal friend for many years and a fun person to hang around with. He visited me at my home in Coconut Grove, Miami, Florida in 1955.

Just stayed up past my bedtime watching Culpepper Cattle Company premiere on TCM. Probably the fourth time I've seen it. An underrated gem due mostly to Mr. Askew' s brilliantly understated role of Luke. And, my oh my, his Boss Paul in Cool Hand Luke gave me chills! Fascinating and intriguing man who will be missed. My condolences to his family.

I didn't know Luke personally, I did sense and recognized his qualities as a actor who seemed to make me feel comfortable with his talent as a actor and gentleman. I discovered Mr. Askew in Wanda Nevada and The Culpepper Cattle Co., I could sense his fellow actor's were happy he was on board, he brought friendship with his presence, I actively seek to watch all his work and movies as his style is unmatched. I regret our loss but cherish the time and movies he gave us.
