Luke Engebretson Obituary

HAMPTON - Luke Dale Engebretson passed away unexpectedly at home on September 26, 2015. He was a son, a brother and a wonderful father to his daughter, Brielle Paige Engebretson. Luke was born August 11, 1983 at Ellsworth Air Force, in Rapid City, South Dakota and came to Hampton in 1989 where he attended high school at Bethel High School in Hampton and Tabb High School in York County. Luke had been a long time employee of Chesapeake Controls and was a hardworking and dedicated employee. If he wasn't working, his time was spent with his daughter at the Lake, where he taught Brielle to hunt and fish. Luke was an avid outdoorsman, and will be missed by his band of brothers at R&R Hunt Club. He had an infectious smile, was quick witted and had a wonderful sense of humor. In addition to his daughter Brielle, Luke is survived by his mother, Leora Witt-Hill and her husband Denny, his father, Scott Engebretson and his wife Cheryl, sister Sonja Barrett, brothers Lance Engebretson and Stephen Morgan, his nephews and niece, Isaiah Tarlton, Nathaniel and Mikayla Horton. Luke is also survived by his grandmothers, Marjorie Engebretson and Marlies Witt. He was preceeded in death by his grandfathers Harold Engebretson and Dale Witt. Our lives will never be the same, but we would love you to join us in a Celebration of Luke's life at the Chapel at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 1 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that you consider a contribution to an educational fund set up for Luke's daughter. The account is at Suntrust Bank and is in the name of Brielle Engebretson, routing number 061000104, account number 1000187583579. Please let us know if you contribute so we can reach out and say thank you.

Our prayers go out to Brielle, Scott, Lance and the rest of the family. I met Luke when I worked at Chesapeake Controls and loved his "No Filter" way of getting his point across. He had such a great attitude, work ethic and saw the fun side of everything.

I just want to say what a great man, father, son, brother etc. you were. I can't find the words to say how much you meant to each and every one of us still here. Luke, you were my friend, hunting and fishing buddy, and my son. You always made me proud of the wonderful man you had grown into. You were smart, creative and extremely innovative. You were always good for a laugh whether it was at your expense or the demise of another on the receiving end of a prank. Life will never be the same without you and you are truly missed. I will remember and love you forever (unless I end up with Alzheimer's) The Lord bless thee and keep thee, the Lord make his face shine upon thee and give thee peace.

I am forever in debt to the fact that I was the daughter of such a wonderful father who had always put me and others before himself. I feel as thou he is still watching over all of us. My father has contributed so much to my life and many others, Scott, Cheyrl, Leona, Sonja, And Myself took it hard, It is not easy to let someone this important go. My thanks to all of you that have been such a support to my family in such dreaded times. Luke would not want all of us to be sad because of this, he wishes for us to celebrate his joining to God. We all know now that he is know in better hands the when he was in ours. Again thank all of you for helping us out in time of need.

Rest in Peace

All the way back to 1997. Maybe earlier, who can remember? Luke was a great dude, who worked hard, played hard, loved his friends and family, and I owe my life to him for waking me during a house fire.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to Lance and family, and to Brielle. Wishing you all strength and peace.

Cheryl and Scott, please know that my heart aches for you both. There are no words that can express the impact of Luke's death. Losing a child hurts to the very core of a parent's being. I pray that God will provide comfort and healing through your grief for the hours, days, weeks, months and years to come.
