Las Cruces, New Mexico
1936 - 2016
Lupe Espinoza Jr. left his earthly place to enter into his everlasting home after a long battle illness on March 4, 2016. He was born in La Mesa on Jan. 21, 1936, to his loving mother Luz C. Espinoza and father Guadalupe Espinoza Sr. As they welcomed him into life, now they welcome him into his new home alongside his brothers, Salvador and Eduardo Espinoza, and sisters, Ramona Bustamante and Julia Valenzuela.
He was a loving husband, caring father, brother and uncle. A soldier in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he kept that fighting spirit until the end. Lupe will be missed by all. He leaves behind his wife of 17 years, Teresa Espinoza; his two daughters and their spouses, Erica Lucero and Victor Lucero, Alma Izquierdo and Kenneth Cox; a brother, Gabriel Espinoza; four granddaughters, Adriana Garcia, Veronica Holguin, Catarina Lucero and Jovanni Holguin; two great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Adelyn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him as the great man he was.
Until we meet again in the next life, we will wait patiently to see his smiling face.
Recitation of the holy rosary will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2016, in San Jose Catholic Church, 353 Josephine St., in La Mesa, where the funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. Inurnment of cremains will follow in San Jose Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Holloman Air Force Base Steel Talons Honor Guard and the Marines Corps League El-Perro Diablo Detachment.
