Not sure what to say?

Luther Forde was one of the most significant individuals in my father's life. They roomed and traveled together, and I think Luther was my dad's best man. I'm very happy for the legacy Luther Forde had in my father's life.

I met Luther and Ilene at a Luther College Homecoming, and saw them at Homecomings regularly thereafter. Not a Luther alum, but a faculty member there for thirty years, I was made by them to feel like one of the Luther family. I hope to see Ilene at future Homecomings; I will miss seeing Luther, a warmhearted and genial and unassuming man who never flaunted his considerable achievements.

I am so sorry to hear this news. The world is diminished with the loss of Luther Forde.

Will never forget spending 1983 Thanksgiving at Luthers home invited by his son, and one of my best friends, John. As a 19 year old Cuban-born sophomore at Macalester College who barely spoke english, I experienced the best possible version of America at the Forde household. Kind, gentle, welcoming, warm folks.
Such wonderful experience will live within me until they day I join Luther upstairs.
Rest In Peace Luther Forde. You represent everything thats good and whole in this nation.

Dear Ilene, I am so sorry about Luther's death. Joanne thought so highly of both of you. I'm quarantined in my little house in Sinai, S.D., where Joanne is buried. Luther's death and the attendant grief is made even more difficult in the COVID circumstances. Now we are fellow travelers in the land of grief. Blessings to you. Sincerely Al Negstad

Please accept my sincere condolences. When you think of your father I hope the memories will bring a smile to you.

Luther was a highly respected professional and a wonderful Christian person. Our best wishes and sympathy to Ilene and family.

Luther Forde was my first boss when I started at Lutheran Brotherhood. I finally became an actuary and Luther was the kindest, gentlest man I ever knew. I couldn't have asked for a finer mentor in my career at Lutheran Brotherhood. Blessed be his memory. Nancy and I send our hugs to the family.
