If you knew Tim Wallace at all, you were lucky. If you knew him well, you were really lucky. Luckily he had a good long run, otherwise, I would be crushed, more crushed than I am. Only now, I read this news. Tim was a treasured friend and colleague. Nancy and I loved him and will miss him forever. His obit is appreciated- well said - but I wish it were book length. I dwell on my sense of loss, but must remember that I am but one of many friends and family sharing this memory.

Tim was in every sense a ‘Man of the World’. He was also the finest representative of the USA combining a pioneering spirit, practical skills, humanity and wisdom. I am so grateful that we met in the early 1970’s and that we stayed in touch and exchanged ideas for almost 50 years. I am pleased that I can say that ‘we were friends’ even though London to Berkeley is a significant distance.
