MARTINEZ, Luz Cruz Jr. - Of Flint and Clio, age 61, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Darrel Manning officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family. Visitation 11 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Luz was born in Flint, Michigan on May 31, 1948 and was a resident of Flint all of his life. He loved to fish and play guitar and liked to tinker with automobiles. Surviving are children, Cynthia Riddell of Whitemore Lake, Christena Martinez of Burton, Antonio Martinez of Clio, Kimberly and husband David Temple of Burton; 7 grandchildren, Michael and Andrea Glowski, Kyle Martinez, Evan Riddell, Michael Thygessen, Dallas Walsh and Brayden Temple; brothers, Rufus and wife Diana, Joseph and wife Marilyn, Frank, James and wife Lynn and Jesse; sisters, Virginia and husband Robert Johnston and Beatris Smith; sister-in-law, Nancy Martinez; many nieces, nephews, cousins; special friends, Keith Panek and John Perez. He was preceded in death by parents, Luz and Maria; 2 daughters, Angela and Candice; son, Steven; brothers, Homer, Bobby, Tony and Benny. Special thanks to McLaren Regional Medical Center and RRC.
