Lydia E. Beam, 101, Topeka, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. She was born Sept. 7, 1902, in Prairie View, to Benjamin Franklin and Ida Florinda Easter Hickman. In June 1924, she married Emery B. Beam. He preceded her in death in January of 1964. She was employed with her husband in the Beam Motor Co., the Chevrolet dealership in Mankato. Mrs. Beam was a 50-year former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Mankato and attended the Harmony United Methodist Church in Mankato. Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Quigley, Topeka; two grandchildren, Sally Green and her husband, Brian, Vicksburg, Miss., and Philip E. Phillips and his wife, Sharon, Wichita; three great-grandchildren, David and Matthew Phillips and Sydney Albritton. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Mount Hope Cemetery in Mankato. The family will receive friends fro m 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Melby Mortuary in Mankato. Contributions may be made to Harmony United Methodist Church in Mankato or to Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene in Topeka, and sent in care of Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka or Melby Mortuary in Mankato.
