Not sure what to say?

I would like first to be sure to send my condolences to Lydia's Family, I am sorry for their Loss. Lydia to Me was the Star that guided my Life. It was she that shaped my life as an Artist. It was I who followed in her footsteps. She trained me as not a performer, but as a unique music teacher. I have continued to search for her interest, literature from Women Piano Composers. Every Performer or teacher needs to find someone to carry on their Work, and I was Just That to Her, both a Patron...

I just found out about Dr. Hailparn's passing today from a friend of a friend who works in the Drew University music Department. From 1975 to 1979, I had the pleasure of taking piano lessons from Dr. Hailparn
She was such wonderful instructor and had infinite patience with me. I was a great sight reader but a lazy student. I had no idea what an amazing pedigree she had until I read her obituary. I have thought about her often and fondly for the last 30 years. She was an amazing...

Dr. Hailparn was the very first professor I met at Drew in 1977. Our music department consisted of three teachers, Dr. Lowry, Dr. Siebert and Lydia. Three amazing teachers, musicians and mentors that inspired me to become a teacher. I will always remember her wonderful smile and beautiful laugh.

It was through the Drew Magazine that I learned of the death of Dr. Lydia Hailparn Ledeen. She was a woman of great intelligence, talent, and wisdom. I was blessed to have had her as my academic adviser and privileged to study piano as her student. Dr. Ledeen was a mentor as well as a friend. Her impact upon my life was profound. I extend my deepest sympathy to her husband, daughters, and family.

Professor Robert Ledeen is a valued colleague and I was distressed to learn belatedly of his wife, Lydia's, passing.

I was a neuroscience major but Prof. Ledeen's intro to music class was one of my greatest challenges and triumphs during my time at Drew. I continue to experience and appreciate music in a different way thanks to her class. I send my condolences to her family and colleagues.

I've belatedly learned of Lydia's passing. She was such a loving and caring person, wonderful musician, and I'm especially grateful to her for hiring me into the Music Department at Drew. She was a delight to work with, and she was always supportive and encouraging, as all of her students readily learned. We did lose contact in these last years, but her legacy will continue to be passed on through all those she touched. May her musical spirit long live on! With love, Norman

Lydia was a world-renowned musician and educator. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friends to all. She will be sorely missed.
