Lyle Davis Sr.

Vassar, MI

Lyle Gerald “Jerry” Davis, Sr, born April 24, 1936, passed away on November 8, 2020.

Lyle was born to Lyle P. Davis and Grayce (McNally) Davis-Baxter, along with his three siblings. Upon the untimely passing of his father, Lyle started working at a young age and his work ethic never waned. He was blessed to work alongside his beloved uncle, William McNally, for more than 50 years.

“FAITH AND FAMILY,” was Lyle’s motto. He reminded his family routinely that faith and family is what should be cherished, and he did that! He was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. He treasured his family and prioritized time spent together.

His other passion was University of Michigan football. He never passed up a chance to squeeze into the Big House and cheer on the wolverines! This year marked his 50th year as a season ticket holder.

Lyle married the true love of his life, Helen Mary (Ryan) Davis, on May 23, 1959. Together they raised their five children: Lyle, Jr. and (Julie) Davis; Scott and (Leanne) Davis; Todd and (Lynette) Davis; Christy and (Matthew) Leeseberg; and Cynthia and (Brian) Lance.

Lyle is survived by his thirteen beloved grandchildren: Lyle Davis, III; Lindsay and (Adam) Walters; Kaylee and (Garrett) Kerns; Megan Davis; Jillian Davis; Travis and (Morgan) Davis; Layne and (Tanner) MacKay; Jared Davis; Alec Leeseberg; Kallen Leeseberg; Kenzie Leeseberg; Tyson Lance; and Kendall Lance, along with three great-grandchildren; Jack Walters, Rory Kerns, and Scout MacKay.

Lyle is also survived by his siblings: Dorothy Burrows; James and (Judy) Davis; and Maurice Davis.

He is pre-deceased by his wife, Helen; his parents, Grayce and Lyle; his stepfather, William Baxter; his brother-in-law, Richard Burrows; and his sister-in-law, Molly Davis.

Due to the passing of Lyle one week after his wife of 61 ½ years, Helen, there will be a burial ceremony for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blessed Trinity Foundation in Frankenmuth, MI.

Not sure what to say?

To the family of Lyle and Helen,

We are so saddened to hear about their passing. This is Sharon, Kathleen and Marie Steinbock from Unit 31 at the Sands condo in Elk Rapids. Our sincere condolences as we had no idea until we read the news in the Sacred Heart bulletin in Elk Rapids last weekend. We understand your sorrow as we lost our dear husband/father Roy in May of last year. We will miss seeing Lyle and Helen up north. We would always run out to the garage whenever we saw them...

Holding you both close in prayer, Lyle and Julie during this totally sad and numbing time. There is a plan for all of us.
Your parents were both very special people

My dearest adopted family Jerry Davis oh my love and I’m glad he’s enjoying his life with his wife in heaven he was an awesome dad and awesome husband and one of the best man outside of my dad that I’ve ever met he loved his family with his whole heart this whole soul he love God first and he put his family first before his own needs he will sure be missed on this earth but I know heaven gained another angel beside his wife Helen and I know today they are in heaven with God and their whole...

Jerry was one of the finest gentleman and mentor that I ever had the privilege of knowing.

Sending heartfelt condolences, hugs, and prayers! So very sorry for your losses!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of both your parents. I remember them from Jaycees, St. Christopher , and
Bridgeport High School. My children, Mike, Tony and Tracey attended school with some of you. You are in our
prayers. May perpetual light shine upon them.

Lyle, Julie and entire Davis family,
I am so sorry to hear of your mom and dad's passing. Truly great people!! I always remember your parents being so kind and their hearts and home were always open. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this very difficult time.

Prayers from the barbershop. Lyle always came in early. I'm going to miss him.

My heart aches for your whole family who I watched grow up. My late husband and I attended Webber Junior High School with your dad and then got to know your whole family when we moved to Bridgeport. Our children went to high school together and Christy and Cindy came to our house for baton lessons. I am so sorry for your loss. You are a wonderful family. I know your mom and dad were very proud of you.
