Not sure what to say?

Lyle demonstrated caring and leadership in all we did together. He introduced me and my family to the fun and challenge of mushroom hunting (and preparing and eating!). He had many ideas on how to introduce and lead around the issues important to us and inspired people wherever he went. I didn't see him much over many of these last years but always remembered him and thought fondly of our times together. Ken Smith

I didn't know Lyle. My good friend down here in San Diego County did know the Mercers. She told me the story of Lyle's victimization by the McCarthy thugs. I'm so glad Lyle had the gumption to tell the world about this in his final message on this earth. I would have liked to have known you, Lyle. You're a hero. Like Barbara, I'm a (former) redheaded Ohio girl.

Lyle was one of the really good guys. Whenever I saw him at a demonstration, or called him at home with a political problem I was having, he ALWAYS managed to pick up my spirits. A decent democratic socialist, Paula and I will greatly miss him!

Dear Bobby,

Alex died on October 14t, 2014. I know that if he were here, he would join me in remembrance of struggles for peace and social justice we shared with Lyle and you so many years, and happy, laughing times as well. Please share these thoughts with your/Lyle's three children.

I wrote this poem on January 9, 2014 for a friend going through great difficulty and grief.

I am posting it here for Lyle Freeman Mercer and his entire extended family. Especially for his wife Barbara in her loss.

The Poem is about all of us in this time and place on this Planet who have tried to fight the good fight to try to change the World from how we found it.

We are All always together in Spirit across many Worlds. We have All been together before. We shall All be...

Besides Cathy and myself missing Lyle in this, his Spring mushroom season, all the new-born morels and king boletes miss him as well.
Somewhere cottonwood's honey buds are adding a sweet smell to the air.
I also know that Lyle has the scent of this cottonwood Spring.

Lyle was a wonderful guy, and a true-blue friend. He didn't fudge or shade the truth, he just told you what he believed in a friendly way. We were lucky to have him as long as we did.

if it weren't for people like him life would become boring or if everybody thought alike nobody would really be thinking something like that. my mom went to highline at the same time he was there.
