Not sure what to say?

My father Vincent R. DeBenedictis who passed away on April 12, 2012 was a classmate of Lyman Avery at Dedham High. My dad graduated in the Class of 1938. They both had the distinction of being great athletes at Dedham High and played football on the undefeated and unscored upon teams at Dedham High. Now I never knew Lyman but my dad spoke so highly of him as an athlete and as a person. As a kid and now as an adult I always remembered the name Lyman Avery. So on behalf of my father I want to...

I knew Mr. Avery as a track coach at Brookline High School. He will be in my memories as a great coach and teacher.
Charlie Ritter, Brookline High School, Class of 1955

Words cannot describe the influence Lyman
Avery had on molding my life's ambitions
as my track coach, teacher and mentor during my high school years and many years
thereafter. He will always live in our hearts and prayers. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

May god bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Paul Baker Dedham High School Class of 1954

I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER MR AVERY AS MY TEACHER AND TRACK COACH. HE WAS A REAL SPECIAL PERSON IN MY LIFE AND I WILL KEEP HIM IN MY PRAYERS. TO HIS WIFE DOROTHY AND DAUGHTERS LAURA AND CAROLYNN I AM VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.

GERRY FOSTER (DEDHAM HIGH 1954)

Lyman was a friend and neighbor in Chesapeake. Lyman took an interest in our three daughters and gave them a book that he thought would help them write in the future - this book was used by Lyman when he was a boy, a gift from an Aunt of his. Lyman and my wife Suzanne, A 30 year teacher, had many long conversations about education and teaching Lyman will be missed.
