Jagers and Sons Funeral Home Obituary

Lynda Lee Locke McInturf, 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dedicated educator, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, faith, and knowledge. Born on January 14, 1947, in Athens, Ohio. Lynda was the daughter of the late Allen E. Locke and Wilma Jean Harper Locke.

Following her graduation from Athens High School, class of 1965, she attended Ohio University, where she earned her degree in Education, laying the foundation for a career in teaching. Lynda’s commitment to shaping young minds touched countless lives during her tenure at both Alexander Local and Federal Hocking schools, from which she retired after 30 years.

In 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, Don McInturf. Together, they raised three children: Scott McInturf of Raleigh, North Carolina; Brad McInturf of Athens, Ohio and Kris McInturf Madhi of Exeter, New Hampshire. Lynda was a doting and proud grandmother to Harper Dean McInturf, Kenza Madhi, and Emerson James McInturf, with whom she spent countless hours creating lasting memories.

Lynda is survived by her loving siblings, Dianne (Harry) McCune of Athens and John (Gini) Locke of Asheville, North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved as her own.

In addition to teaching, Lynda was an Licensed Practical Nurse and an entrepreneur with her husband Don, co-owning Carol Lee Donuts, Athens Lock & Key, The Sweet Boutique and numerous student rentals.

Beyond her professional life, Lynda was a woman of deep faith and varied interests. A devout Christian, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including writing poetry, singing and engaging in lively card games.

Lynda Locke McInturf will be remembered for her kindness and empathy, her unwavering dedication to her students, her love of family, and her enduring faith in God. Her warmth will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

My condolences to the whole family. So many memories from my childhood are linked to Lynda and the family. Lynda’s wit and laughter made her one of my favorite people to spend time with. She will be truly missed.

I was sad to hear about Lynda's passing and send my deepest sympathy to Don and the entire McInturf family.

Lynda, you will be greatly missed by all. I will always remember the good times we had second semester/freshman year in Howard Hall.

Diana and Harry. God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

It was my great pleasure to work with Lynda. She was supportive and welcoming when I began at Federal Hocking and became a trusted colleague over the years. My sincere condolences to all.

I'm sorry for the loss of this beautiful person. She will be missed by so many people. Prayers for the family.

Many great memories of Lynda. She will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to family and friends.

Lynda, like her mother Jean Locke, was a “doer” in our community. When I came to Athens as a student, I remember her at Carol Lee’s Donuts but knew her better later as part of Jean’s family. Her family are in our thoughts at this time of loss and sadness.
