Not sure what to say?

"Big Byrd" was my ride and died. We were childhood friends. Later, we attended SIU. He supported me and vice versa, whatever the situation was. Lynn was a very kind-hearted person. Power to you my brother. May you rest in your heavenly peace

Although Lynn was well known in our hometown as a kind and benevolent person, I came to know him as a best friend to someone I knew. And what a best friend he was. One of the most beautiful people from the inside out, that was Lynn Byrd. The world will greatly miss you, but I know you are in heaven where God is saying, well done.....thank you always, Lynn Byrd. RIP Mr.Byrd, you will greatly be missed-not only by me, but many-many others. You helped me in so many ways while I was a teacher aide in Carbondale, I will never forget you. Thank you. Miss Priss

A MAN, AMONG MEN - "An outstanding friend/mentor” Mr. Byrd, was a God fearing, chivalrous, person of outstanding character.

The strength of a man isn't seen in the width of his shoulders.
It's seen in the width of his arms that encircle and protect you.
The strength of a man isn't in the deep tone of his voice.
It is in the gentle words he whispers.
The strength of a man isn't how many buddies he has.
It's how good a buddy he is with his or "your"...

Lynn was a wonderful man who dearly loved his family and children. I worked with Lynn and he always had a positive outlook on life. He planted many seeds that will help children grow into young adults. I greatly admired his passion for life. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

Have known Lynn since childhood. Can't remember a time it wasn't a pleasure to be around him. Going to miss his wit, his humor and his civic authority. May God be with his family in this time of sorrow.

My memories of Lynn are that he was a man who had faith in God--a man of honor and integrity. He possessed great insight and understanding of the human spirit. There are many students whose lives have been impacted by his advice and wisdom.

Lynn and I worked together some years back. Lynn was a great friend and someone whom I admired greatly. I've seen him work with troubled kids and bring them around using his years of experience and cunning abilities. He will be missed by many and I offer the family my condolences and love.
