Lynn Marie. Services will be held at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church at 1 pm, Monday, May 21 in Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends at The Green Boundary Club following the ceremony. Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. In the near future, a memorial service will be held in Cincinnati, OH. Lynn, a native of Chicago, IL passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Howard Waldo Carlisle and Dorothy Kelly Carlisle, from Chicago. From a young age, Lynn quickly became a skilled equestrian and an artist. In her teen years, she moved from Chicago to Cincinnati. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design, from Miami University in Oxford, OH which set the precedence for her lifelong-career in artistic brilliance. She juried shows for the Miami Museum, critiqued student portfolios for admission and recruited young talent for the School of Fine Art. Throughout her life, painting and drawing were a source of solace, joy, and accomplishment. Like many, always-poor college students, she sold her work to buy supplies for the next assignment. This experience was the precursor to a passionate career in art. As a stay-at-home mother, her crafty talents made her a star in her daughters' eyes and passed on the creativity and talent to her children and family. At the same time, she was the artistic guru for innumerable civic fundraisers, charitable galas and corporate events in Cincinnati. After her daughters were grown, she settled in Aiken, SC. This presented the opportunity to get back to her real artistic passion and make her mark in the art world. Lynn's work was primarily watercolor or oil on linen, included beloved portraits of dogs and horses by commission, as well as items held in private collections in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. Lynn was also an avid foxhunter. She was introduced to the sport by her father and began riding to the hounds at the early age of 9. She was awarded hunt colors in several prestigious hunts, including the Oakbrook Hounds in Chicago, IL, Camargo Hunt in Cincinnati, OH, the Iroquois Hunt in Lexington, KY, and the Aiken Hounds of Aiken, SC. She passed her passion for horses and animals on to her children as well as many other children, much to their parent's pocketbooks' dismay. She would hop on the ornery ponies and ride them into shape. Lynn was feisty, funny, fearless, a great athletic, and loving and supportive of all friends. She had an infectious smile and laugh. She was always supportive, but would call you out on your discrepancies when you needed it. Lynn loved her children and her grandchildren whole heartedly. She was there when her granddaughter took her first breath and the special connection that sparked between Mary Claire and "Weezer" at that moment continued to grow each day. She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Carlisle Judd of Aiken, SC, and Natalie Judd Schoeny, her son-in-law, Michael Schoeny, grandchildren, Nathan and Mary Claire Schoeny of Raleigh, NC, her brother, Thomas H. Carlisle of Denver, CO, and sisters, Anne (Walter) Noonan of Greenwich, CT, Mary (Robert) Peloquin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Katherine (Jeffrey) LeDonne of Brighton, CO, many nieces and nephews, a diverse and loving collection of wonderful friends, and her beloved dog Gus. She was taken from us way too soon and will be so greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hunt Staff Benefit Foundation (HSBF) of the Masters of Foxhounds Association & Foundation. Lynn may be gone away from us but she will never be forgotten. Her love of life, enthusiasm for adventure, and compassion for animals and humans alike will be with me forever. I have two pieces of art from her hands that I will always cherish. We shared a foxhunting trip to Live Oak Hounds in 2004 with our horses in tow and we so enjoyed our time together. Her spirit is still present in our hearts.

Over the last 2 years, I received many emails that were intended for Lynn but were sent to me by mistake because our email addresses were so similar and because we shared a first and last name. She and I became email friends as I would pass on emails to her. She told me about her work and she even sent me some note cards as a thank you. I learned of her passing just yesterday as I was on the web and happened to google myself and found the tragic story. I was greatly affected by the news. My...

Sharing the excitement of hounds and hunting with Lynn will always be with me. Her friendship was truly a blessing. And her awe inspiring art work is a delight to all who shared life with her. She is deeply missed. Brownell Alexander

Bye Lynn. You were our icon, our hero who was all things wonderful about our precious little community, Indian Hill. Whenever we reflected upon the joy of our youth and how gloriously fun it was, you were constantly in that parade with all your grace, charm, wit, beauty, energy, class, talent, and poise on full display.
