Lynn Gayle (Gail) Carpenter, age 72, passed away on May 31, 2025, in Grayling, MI. Born on
June 11, 1952, in San Diego, California, Lynn graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1970.
She worked as a pharmacist technician at Satow Drugs in Frankenmuth after high school and
later was a seasonal model for Hudson’s department store. Comins and Fairview, Michigan, has
been her home for over thirty years.
Lynn had an unforgettable personality and flair. She preferred wearing hats most of the time and
had an eye for beautiful, quality clothing. She was quick to notice and compliment others’ attire,
especially when she felt they were up to her standards.
Lynn was a people person, although many may have missed this. She looked forward to visits in
her home and usually didn’t want to see her visitors leave. She wasn’t big on playing games but
liked just being around people. She also found enjoyment in listening to today’s country music
and could relate to the joys and heartache in it.
Lynn had a heart and eye for people in need. She cared about those in her presence and would
become deeply upset if she felt someone was sad or hurting. Often she would offer her own
clothes to others or see to it that their needs were met by others.
Lynn is survived by her twin brother, Lee Carpenter, and sister, Laura Boyke-Hawes. She was
preceded in death by her father, Lyle Carpenter, her mother, Lois Carpenter, and her brother,
Larry Carpenter. Also preceding Lynn in death was her long-time companion, Douglas Birk.
At Lynn’s request, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will meet for a memorial
service at the Fairview Cemetery on Thursday afternoon, August 7, at 1:00 P.M. Donations in her
memory can be given to Comins Community Church, P.O. Box 60, Comins, MI, or His Love
Family Resources, P. O Box 217, Mio, MI, two ministries she loved very much.
