Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

Lynne Anne (Dietrich) Messler of Flushing, Michigan,

January 9, 1957 – January 6, 2026:

Lynne passed away on the morning of January 6, 2026, at McLaren Hospital after a long battle with emphysema and COPD. Lynne leaves behind her husband Mark Messler, sons, Jason and Nickolas, and grandchildren, Violet and Allen. Sisters, Lytha and Peggy, and brothers, Randy and Kenny, along with nieces and nephews. Lynne was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Dietrich and mother Gloria Dietrich.

Lynne was a graduate of Flushing High School in 1976 and married Mark Messler later that year. Lynne and Mark were happily married for 49 years at her passing. Lynne worked as a waitress at various restaurants including Big Boy in Genesee Vally and The Texan, she then worked for Walmart until her retirement in 2010 due to health issues.

Lynne never let her condition slow her down. Despite being tethered to an oxygen tank, she always had a positive outlook and enjoyed meeting up with friends at the Burton Senior Center, fishing, bingo, euchre, trips to the casinos and travelling with her sister, Lytha. Her biggest regret was having to give up swimming and bowling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Internment is yet to be decided. A celebration of Lynne’s life is being planned by her family for later this year.

Not sure what to say?

Lynne was a kind and wonderful woman. I have known Lynne since Kindergarten. Even though I moved to Naples Florida, she was always in my heart. When we spoke on the phone, you could hear the happiness when she talked about her grandchildren. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Lynne will truly be missed.

Gonna miss my friend.

Lynne, I will miss your kind presence and sense of humor. You loved unconditionally and took me in as your little sister, forever grateful!

I am so sorry to hear of Lynne’s passing. We had some good times in high school. Condolences to her family
