Lynnette W. Davis was born August 21, 1955, the 2nd child to Ethel and William Clarence Weaver. Lynnette quietly slipped into eternal rest on November 2, 2020 after a short illness.


Lynnette was raised in Suffolk, VA where she attended John F. Kennedy High School. After high school, she attended Virginia State University, graduating in the class of 1977. While at VSU, she was a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma Service Sorority. She enjoyed reading but most of all she was known for being very witty. 


Lynnette was a published author releasing a book of poetry called An Ode to Black Womanhood in 1990 and was a dedicated educator for 26 years in Mecklenburg and Greenville County School Systems. She was very devoted to her students and loved cultivating their minds while helping them find their way in life. She retired in 2018.


Lynnette was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Clarence Weaver. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Nicole Mason; her brother, Andre Weaver; sister-in-law, Patrice Weaver; one niece; two nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Viewing will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Oris P. Jones Funeral Establishment, 301 West Atlantic Street, South Hill, VA.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020 at the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. 


All attendees are asked to wear face coverings and practice social distancing at all times.
