M. Rosanna Garretson, 93, passed away at Rolling Hills Nursing Home on January 15, 2011. Mrs. Garretson was born July 12, 1917, in Johnstown, PA, the daughter of Lamah and Abigail Cole. She married John L. Garretson on September 18, 1937. John passed away in March 1980. After moving to Topeka, they were both Deacons at Central United Presbyterian Church. Survivors include four daughters; Sandra (Bruce) Starr of San Diego, California, Carol (Francis) Hefner, Rosanna Turner, Joann (John) Bortz and son John L. (Susan) Garretson, all of Topeka. She will also be dearly missed by her 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Garretson will lie in state from 1-9 on Wednesday, January 19, at Davidson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice in care of the funeral home.
