Mabel Bell Dryden

Mabel Bell Dryden, 80, of Waynesboro, Virginia, (formerly of Princess Anne, Maryland), died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Augusta Health Center in Fishersville, Virginia.

She had been living with her daugther and son-in-law, Darlene and Danny Hall in Waynesboro, Virginia.

She was born November 19, 1928, in Crisfield, Maryland, the daughter of Robert and Vernettia Swift. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Dryden and Thomas Tandy.

Surviving are her children, Darlene Swift Hall and her husband, Danny, of Waynesboro, Virginia, Harold Eugene Tandy of Ramona, California, and three stepdaughters, Sheila Dryden Milliner, Sherry Dryden Riggin of Crisfield, Maryland, and Shelly Dryden Wagner of Fenwick Island, Delaware. She is also survived by a sister, Frances Johnson and two brothers, Donald Swift and George Swift, all of Crisfield, Maryland; four grandchildren, Debra Hall Ashby of Clemmons, North Carolina, LaDena Hall Knott of Waynesboro, Virginia, Christina Tandy Hansen and Michael Tandy of Ramona, California.

Mabel was known for her love of cooking and gardening but in her later years was unable to enjoy her special gifts.

Special thanks is given to the staff of Shenandoah Nursing Home and the wonderful and loving care she received from Augusta Health Center for her final day on this earth.

Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home of Waynesboro, Virginia and Bradshaws Funeral Home of Crisfield, Maryland, are handling the arrangements and graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Sunnyridge Cemetery.
