LANCASTER

Mabel E. (Green) O'Malley, 93, died Monday, October 23, 2023, in Mayflower Place Nursing Center, West Yarmouth.

She leaves a son, Capt. Mark P. O'Malley USCG (ret), and his wife, Susan, of Annapolis, MD; two daughters: Maureen A. Lampa and her husband, Steven, of West Yarmouth, and Kathleen M. Adamczyk and her husband, Stephen, of Germantown, MD; seven grandchildren: Katherine Hansberry and her wife, Jenny, Bryan Adamczyk and his wife, Rhonda, John Adamczyk and his wife, Deanna, Elizabeth O'Malley and her husband, Jason Kanno, Conor O'Malley, Sandra Lampa, and Erin Citron; ten great-grandchildren: Miguel, Mateo, Lydia, and Amelia Citron, Alexis Reid, Dylan and Cole LeBouf, Piper Adamczyk and Corey Waldron, Jameson Adamczyk; nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Peter A. O'Malley, who died in 2004. Two sisters, Marjorie Miller and Betty Green, also predeceased her.

Mabel was born in Scarborough, ME, and raised in Central Massachusetts, daughter of Guy W. and Hazel B. (Green) Green. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1947, and a resident of Magnolia Ave., Lancaster, from 1964-2019.

For more than 40 years, Mabel was employed by the former T.F. Burke Oil Co., Lancaster, as a bookkeeper. She had previously been employed by Poulin Construction, Sterling.

A member of St. John's Parish, Clinton, she was active within many church ministries, including Ladies of the Presentation, Women's Club, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. In addition, Mabel was a long-time volunteer at the Clinton Hospital Guild Gift Shop, and a former member of the Board of the Clinton Senior Center, and a proud member of the Red Hats. She enjoyed shopping almost on a daily basis with her partner in crime, Marie, and baking scads of pumpkin breads for neighbors and friends at the holidays. Most importantly, she loved traveling with her late husband, P.A., whether by planes, trains, automobiles, or buses. Traveling provided more shopping opportunities. Ireland and Bermuda were two of their favorite trips.

And then of course, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy and always provided her with smiles and laughter at every family dinner, party, barbeque, and graduation.

Mabel's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Her family and friends will honor and remember her life by gathering for calling hours on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the O'Malley family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452, or to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., #550, Chicago, IL 60631.

My condolences for your loss, Mable was a lovely person

Mabel, I enjoyed our long chats after work at the gift shop. You were a great friend. Rest in peace, Mabel.

Very sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and yours.

I’m so sorry for your loss. She was a very nice person and will be missed by all that knew her.

Kathy, Maureen and Mark, so sorry for your loss. Mabel was truly a woman of kindness and empathy. She always asked how I was doing during our family "upheaval" and was genuinely concerned and I'll always remember her kind words during those times. Sincere condolences.

Mabel was a living embodiment of kindness, charity, loyalty, and love. A convert to Roman Catholicism, she led a life guided by more principles of her chosen faith than many a "cradle" Catholic. From volunteering in her daughter's classroom to serving Thanksgiving dinner to seminarians with her daughter and son-in-law, she was there to help in any way she could. Everyone could rely on Mabel, be it to serve as a companion or personal shopper for elderly relatives or simply to feed a pet...

Mabel at Bryan's (Grandson's Master's Graduation)

Nana, was the kind of Grandmother you read about in stories, only she was real. She was my travel companion, cheerleader, counselor, shoulder to cry on, mentor, and wish maker. She was always smiling and happy even when I was tormenting her beyond breaking points. She was my teammate! A little part of me passed with her on Monday, but I only hope to bring the Joy to my new son Jameson that she helped bring to me.
