Carkhuff Mac Carkhuff, 1975-2005, born in Duluth, MN on March 22, 1975 to Martin Carkhuff (deceased 7-21-05) and Nancy (Lueken) Carkhuff. At the age of 10 months his family moved back to the Brainerd area where Mac graduated from Brainerd High School in 1993. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Winona State University and a Masters in Criminal Justice (with honors) from St. Cloud State. Mac's home at 9527 Hillside Dr., Champlin, MN was blessed with his pal, English bulldog, Gus. Survived by his grandmother, Betty Lueken; mother, Nancy (Lueken) Carkhuff; sister, Becki (Ed) Henagin, 3 nephews, Chase, Alex and Ethan; his betrothed, Suzie Olson; step- mother, Sherry Messerschmidt; brothers, Nate and Preston; special friends, Josh Van Drake, Karen Hall, Nicole Wander, Terry Thorkelson, Curly & Gwen Olson and numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, high school and college friends, motorcycling and snowmobiling friends and neighbors. Mac will be sorely missed by all he has known. Preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard (Dick) Lueken, grandparents, Ben & Norma Carkhuff, his father Martin Carkhuff (Messerschmidt). Services 11:00 A.M. Thurs., Sept. 1, 2005 at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Visitation 3-8 P.M. Wed. Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd one hour before services at the church. We love and miss you and we think about you everday.

It has taken me so long to write in this guestbook simply because I had no idea what to say - and I still don't. I've known Mac since elementary school through high school and Suz since about that long too. Mac was a terrific guy and I still can't believe he's gone - I think about him almost on a daily basis as well as you, Suz. This is one of Mac's uncles, it's February, 2006, and already six months has passed since Mac went home to our Lord- seems like just yesterday. There is comfort in knowing he's with his Grandpa (Dick) Lueken, who went home amazingly already a year ago.

I smile every day knowing they are one with our Lord, and swapping tall tales like no one else can. :)
