Mr. Cates was an icon of the textile business. He was southern born and Princeton educated. He would tell stories and recite poetry that made him a kind of South Carolinian Winston Churchill. He was full of wit and wisdom, the latter of which prepared him for what he called “fishing around the bend of the stream”. Good hunting and catching, Mr Cates.
