Machelle Lynn Nichols

Machelle Lynn Nichols was born April 25, 1963 in Iowa City, Iowa: the daughter of Charles R. Nichols and Kathleen (Derifield) Barnes. She was currently employed at Meto Kote in Waterloo. Machelle was married to Greg West in Las Vegas in 2000. She enjoyed fishing, reading, music; especially Jimi Hendrix and animals, she was a farm girl. Machelle was free spirited and a very happy person. She liked making her grandma’s noodle recipe on her grandma’s table. Machelle died from an apparent homicide on Friday, March 26, 2010 at her home at the age of 46. She is preceded in death by her father; a stillborn son David John Nichols; a brother Jeff Barnes and a niece Dianna Wilcox. Machelle is survived by her mother Kathleen Barnes of Waterloo; a son Ron Nichols of Waterloo; a daughter Malissa Tyler of Waterloo; a grandson Brandon Tyler; 3 granddaughters: Liea, Isabel and Alivia Currie; 2 brothers: Timothy (Shenita) Barnes of Fairbank and Bill (Kim) Derifield of Waterloo and a sister Diana Barnes of Elk Run. Machelle will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorials may be directed to the family.
