Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg Obituary

Mackenzie “Mac” Lancaster died on December 31, 2017 unexpectedly.  He was born January 25, 2007, the son of Matthew and Ronayne Lancaster.

Mac was very social and in his short time with us, he had an incredible impact on all who knew him. His sheer happiness and joy for life warmed hearts and drew people to him. Though Mac could not speak, he had an amazing ability of connecting with people without saying a word.

He loved music, water, movement and animals. Since Mac was a baby he loved playing with musical toys and moving to the beat. He especially enjoyed live music—his whole body would light up at a concert. Another favorite place for Mac to be was in the water. Whether splashing in the waves at the beach, floating in a pool or in the bathtub, in water he would always have a blast.

From day one, Mac was a fighter. He fought his way into this world, and was so strong—the strongest kid on the planet. Most of all, Mac was a pure soul, who will forever be remembered for his warm smile, infectious laugh, and bottomless heart.

He is survived by his mother and father, Ronayne and Matthew Lancaster; his maternal grandparents, Norton & Maria Schonfeld; paternal grandparents Diane and Marvin Lancaster; Aunts and Uncles Ryan and Janine Schonfeld, Melissa and David Bradley, and Michelle and Troy Hauch; and cousins Emma and Jack Schonfeld, Lilian and David Bradley, and Corban, Carsen, Lilly, and Oliver Hauch.

The funeral will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Saint John the Apostle in Leesburg, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Jill’s House (https://donate.jillshouse.org). Jill’s House is an organization that provides short-term, overnight respite care for children with special needs.

Mac instantly brighten my day when I would stop and talk with him in the halls of Rosa Lee Carter Elementary. He was a beacon of positivity, as he never stop smiling! What a wonderful role model he became for other RLC students! Deepest condolences to your family.

I was shocked and so very sad to hear the news that Mackenzie had died. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
