Not sure what to say?

Dear Dr. Grumbach,
I found out about Madeline's passing rather late. She was an amazing, accomplished woman! May you find comfort in your wonderful family.

You have my deepest sympathy. While I met Madeleine at many national and international meetings I never appreciated the range of her interests in child psychiatry, music and birdwatching. Death in a loved one is never easy, even when expected.

To the California Crew: We are sorry that we are unable to be out for the memorial service and support you in person during this time. I was so glad I was able to be there for Mel's 80th last year. It was great being with all of you and I got to have some quality conversation time with Madeline then. We all hope to see some of you at various time back East in the next year. Peace to all.

Dear Dr. Grumbach,
