Madelene B. Baggett CHARLESTON - Madelene "Dickie" Barrineau Baggett, 85, of Charleston, SC, the widow of Capt. John C. Baggett (Ret. USMC), entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Madelene was born in Charleston, SC on October 27, 1925, a daughter of the late Rena (Mitchum) and John Jefferson Barrineau. After graduating from St. Francis School of Nursing, she left Charleston and went to Atlanta to work at the Veterans Hospital. There she met her husband John on a double date. Two years later they were married. She was an excellent and devoted military wife, dedicated to her husbands career. Madelene was a retired Registered Nurse at St. Francis who was dedicated to her nursing career and taking care of others. She was a member of the Officers Wives Club and enjoyed reading, sewing and gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Baggett, of James Island, SC; her son, Tom Baggett, of St. Petersburg, FL; a daughter in law, Lisa Sturcken Baggett, of St. Petersburg, FL; a granddaughter, Caroline Lorraine Baggett, of Charleston, SC; her sister in law, Marjorie Mills Barrineau, of Charleston, SC. Madelene is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as great and great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters; Helen Barrineau Wilson, Genevieve Barrineau Boylston and her brother, Tommy Barrineau. The relatives and friends of Madelene "Dickie" Barrineau Baggett are invited to attend her Funeral Service at Ft. Johnson Baptist Church, Charleston, SC, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 6, 2011. The burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, August 5, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway Charleston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ft. Johnson Baptist Church 1473 Camp Rd. Charleston, SC 29412 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or Pet Helpers 1447 Folly Rd. Charleston, SC 29412. Arrangements are by James A.
