JOHNSON, MADELINE BEATRICE (Lintz) Flushing Age 92, died on November 2, 2016, at the Genesys Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was born in Flint on May 20, 1924 to the late Reuben M. Lintz and Pearl B. (Dye) Lintz-McKelvey. Madeline graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1942 and attended Alma College. On August 24, 1944, she wed Ralph C. Johnson, D. O. They were married for over 50 years until Ralph's passing in 1995. She was a devoted wife and loved being a mother. She always said she felt fortunate to have both a boy and a girl. Open and warm-hearted, she became an important figure in the lives of a number of her children's friends, who liked to call her Mama J. Madeline was an active member of the Flint Osteopathic Hospital Women's Auxiliary, formerly the Still Hospital Women's Auxiliary, where she was a founding member in 1945 and served as their second president from 1947 1949. In addition, Madeline was a founding member of the Genesee County Osteopathic Women's Club and served as their second president. In the late 1960's, Madeline was active in the Genesee County Republican Party, even running for office on one occasion. Although she later switched parties, she remained greatly interested in politics, staying up on current events and relishing animated political discussions. For a number of years, Madeline worked in the retail jewelry business, where she made many friends. In addition to time spent in the Flint area, Madeline also spent many happy hours at the family cottage in Manistee, MI, her husband's birth town, where she loved to watch the beautiful sunsets over Lake Michigan. Madeline is survived by her devoted daughter Deborah (Johnson) Anderson and husband Bradford of East Sandwich, MA; daughter-in-law Sheila (Hulkonen) Johnson of Interlochen, MI; and beloved grandson Adam Johnson, of Flint, MI. She is also survived by her dearly loved sister Marcia De (Lintz) Spaly, of Flint, MI; as well as her sister-in-law, Lois (Dunbar) Lintz-Curtiss and husband Art, of Flint, MI and Peoria, AZ. In addition, she was a proud aunt to a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Ralph C. Johnson; son Chris C. Johnson; and brothers, Douglas Lintz, Robert Lintz, and Clifford Lintz. She was a shining light to her family and friends and will be sorely missed. On Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, a visitation hour be held at 10 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W. Hill Rd., Flint, MI. Burial will be private at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Johnson's name to either the Shriners Hospitals for Children or the American Cancer Society. Not sure what to say?

My mother, my heart. I will always miss you.

So saddened to learn of Madeline's passing. I remember my mom mentioning her many times always with Marcia De. It was wonderful meeting both Madeline and Marcia De at Uncle Chan's family reunion after so many years of hearing of you both. With love and sympathy, Mara, your Florida cousin.

Our deepest condolences. Such fond memories of our old neighbor from Lloyd St. Flint. I remember all the times she and my mother would get together either in our backyard or hers for afternoon visits. I can still hear their laughter. Rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to the entire family.

John Mucha (neighbor on Lloyd Street)
