I met Madeline only one time but she inspired me with her attitude, courage and strength of spirit. I felt a special bond with her, perhaps, because our life paths are so similar--she was a college professor and she came from a family of five girls and she was the eldest daughter/sister. I spoke with Madeline and her family after she had entered hospice and I was again touched by Madeline's strength and courage. She was thinking about helping others even in her final days with us.
