Flint, Michigan
LASLEY, Madison Rachel - Of Flint Township, age 21 months, received her angel wings on Sunday, April 17, 2011. She is now eternally safe and pain-free in the arms of Jesus. Funeral service was held 11a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor and Grandfather Mark Lasley officiated. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Although Madison's life was short, the number of people who were touched by her life is many. Madison was born on July 20, 2009 to Joseph and Rebecca Lasley. From the moment she was born her parents and grandparents Mark and Rhonda Lasley and Paul (Kevin) and Mandy Roop knew she was special. On July 1, 2010, Madison was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML). From the day she was diagnosed she endured multiple hospital stays and two bone marrow transplants. Madison's strength, courage and fight was an inspiration to us all and proved what a mighty warrior she was. When baby brother Josiah was born, she finally had a playmate. She always had a smile and a hug for her aunts and uncles: Jon Lasley, Krista Lee, Brian Roop and Rachel Roop. Madison's life and the testimony of Christ through her parents are an inspiration to her great-grandparents Jim and Frieda Beckman, Ken and Peggy Johnson, Marie Roop and her many aunts, uncle, cousins. Madison was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Warren and Bobbie Lasley, and James (Buddy) Roop. The family would like to give a very special thank you to the staff and Doctors on the 7th floor and Pediatric I.C.U. at the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital. Their love and care for Madison over the past six months will never be forgotten. They will always have a special place in our family's hearts. We would also like to thank all our friends, family, and Bethany Baptist Church, where Joseph and Rebecca are members, for their support and prayers during Madison's journey. Your condolences may be shared with the family at

Just found out about little Madison from friends. Was so sorry to hear about your little one. Cling to God's promises "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" I know you will forever miss her. She is safe and secure in the arms of Jesus...

Mark, I worked with you at King Elementary about 25 years ago. Karen Wainwright's Facebook had your granddaughters obituary on it and I thought this sweet child may belong to you. I am so sorry for your family's loss. I know your family will be clinging to God through this difficult time. I will be praying for you and your family. Joni Prins

As a neighbor of Lynn & Mary Lasley, we have continued to pray for Madison. It is hard to understand why things like this happen to such a young child; but, I do believe Madison has her wings and is finally ready to fly - pain free. Madison has touched so many lives in her short time on earth. Please know that the many tears we've all cried, could fill a river. May God Bless the entire Lasley family at this time. TJ Yorks

I am so sad to learn of the death of little Madison. You see I have a kidney cancer support group. I am in touch with parents of children with Wilms tumor and/or leukemia. She is now an angel among many other angels. May the family gain renewed strength and have cherished memories. Love Prof. Frank Friedman,Flint,Mi
