MAE KURTZ

Mae Kurtz was a beloved colleague of mine when she worked at CHOICE as an option counselor, a patient advocate and a hotline counselor. She had a warm, sensible manner that made you want to turn to her for advice with a difficult caller or situation or for personal advice. I can still hear her distinctive chuckle. She left her mark on me and it was an honor to know her. She made the world a better place to live. Rest in peace.

Mae was my inspiration. When I was in my 20's and volunteering as an options counselor for CHOICE, Mae was the kind, seasoned mentor I needed to develop & sharpen my commitment to equity and women's rights. Later, when I was the Executive Director of CHOICE, Mae was an important advisor & voice in my ear - keeping me focused on clear priorities. She is not gone. She lives on in all of us!
