Mae Bell Sanders

Mrs. Mae Bell Sanders, 86, of Buckner, Arkansas, answered God’s Call on Thursday, December 10, 2020. On July 18, 1934, in Falcon, Arkansas, her mother, Mattie Lee Toney-Page welcomed into the world her bundle of joy Mae Bell. Mae Bell attended Ellis School and joined Clevet Springs Baptist Church in Falcon, Arkansas, at an early age. Even as a child she was curious and outgoing. She enjoyed talking to people and treated everyone as if she’d known them for years.

Mae Bell would later join New Hope Baptist Church #2 in Falcon, Arkansas. She was an active member until her health began to fail. She served her church in different capacities and was once the Vice President of the Mission.

Mae Bell was known for being an excellent cook. Everything she touched was good, but her most requested item was a cake that was so good that someone changed the name to “Love Cake”, because anything that good had to be made with nothing but love!

Mae Bell loved spending time with her family, spoiling the little ones with love and affection. She will be missed, but There’s comfort in knowing she’s Dancing Around Heaven with the love of her life whom she was married to for over 50 years, Leroy Sanders. She’s also preceded in death by children: Georgia Lou James, Roy Junior; a brother, Alfred Reed and a grandson, Dawaski Sanders.

The legacy of love that will cherish her memory forever are one son, Charles Sanders of Sayre, Oklahoma; four daughters: Mollie Mae Henderson (Robert) of Bussey, Arkansas, Tracy Louise Sanders (Thomas) of Hope, Arkansas, Diane Ingram (Freddie) of Falcon, Arkansas, Lakeisha Brown of Magnolia, Arkansas; one brother Robert Ellis (Eola) of Hope; two sisters: Velma Givens of Falcon, Mariah Madison (James) of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; 2 special grandchildren reared in the home, Reginald James of Waldo, Arkansas and Alicia Washington of Liberal, Kansas; a Goddaughter, Edna Adams (Lee) of Falcon; 19 other grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

There will be a walk-through visitation on Friday, December 18, 2020, from 4:00 - 7:00pm., at Brandon's Mortuary, in Hope, Arkansas. A Home Going Celebration Service will be held at 11:00 am., Saturday, December 19th, at New Hope Baptist Church # 2 Cemetery, in Buckner.

Feel free to bring your lawn chairs to the cemetery to ensure seating for everyone. There will be reserved seating for family. We will be observing all COVID-19 regulations.
