Sorry to hear of your loss Mr. Kenny and Nancy, know that you are in my prayers.

It is difficult to imagine Porter-Gaud these days without Mrs. Tassin. She was an inspiration, and her saintly kindness knew no bounds. Her crocheted bookworms were quite the incentive to get us wily six year olds to read more. My sister and I consider ourselves fortunate indeed to have spent our first grade year in Mrs. Tassin's classroom.

If only every first-grader were as lucky as I was to have such a kind, patient, curious guide to welcome them into the wide world of school and learning. As my mom mentioned, I still treasure the reading pillow I made in her class (it's on my bed as I write this now). And I know I'm one of many that still have the 'bookworm' bookmarks she knitted for us as rewards for reading 100 books. Picking out the color for the bookworm was such a proud moment!
