Madge was a precious jewel. She seemed able to listen and evaluate ideas and people with great accuracy, but never unfairly. Another of that great generation of the post-Vatican II era has passed away. They are of the finest, most apostolic people it's been my privilege to know.

Sr Madge was a member of the Board of Directors of the United States Catholic Mission Association when I was the Executive Director. She has helped us produced the Handbook on the Aparecida Document. Mission is very much in her heart. She was a person I could rely on to help navigate through some complicated issues. She was a friend, an inspiration and a trusted colleague in the work of mission. She will be missed. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon her.

Dr. Karecki was an inspiration to me and to all Evangelicals who have fellowship with those in the Roman Catholic Church who have accepted and worked with us as sisters and brothers in Christ. May God give Sr. Madge eternal rest in His presence!

We worked together in Chicago at the Gospel Family, in South Africa with the Daughters of St Francis-a Zulu speaking Congregation of Franciscan Sisters-and in the Archdiocese of Johannesburg. Once we returned to the U.S.A. in 2005 we each went out separate ways in religious life. We still kept in touch and visited each other every year...
