A Renaissance Woman
Well-rounded is too pale a term for Maile Rachel Hale. Her heart was in dancing ‹ ballet and, later, modern. She was a chemistry major in college. And at 26, she was the chief operating officer and vice president of Boston Investor Services, overseeing the management of billions of dollars. On Sept. 11, she was attending a conference at Windows on the World.

As a young woman, she made peace with her shyness, said CarolAnn Hale, her mother. "She was calm and quiet and really, really sweet," said Kimberly Gilbert, a college roommate. "She would put together a party and do all the work," said Mrs. Hale. "And when it was going, she'd be standing by the side, watching and enjoying people." Along with dance, her passion was the ocean, acquired while growing up in Honolulu. And chocolate ‹ M&M's, Dove bars, desserts. "She was the craziest chocolate person ever," said Ms. Gilbert. "But she thought, as an adult and professional, she wasn't supposed to be so excited about chocolate. So she was always sneaking it."

Not sure what to say?

In 2001 I worked in a camera shop in Yardley PA . A woman named Susan came in to have pictures made of her niece Maile for her memorial service. My husband owned the store and I was 25 years old and about to be a mother.
Two years later I went to nursing school inspired by the events of 9/11 to make a positive impact on the world. Susan sent us a card on October 12, 2001 thanking us for making the photos and said the kindness meant a lot to her family and it restored their faith. Today...

hi

I don't know you but rest in peace. We have the same last name which is a crazy coincidence but it is so sad and tragic what happened to this young lady who had so much life ahead of her. May she rest in peace.

Well, another year has passed and here I am remembering someone I have never met. Someone whose existence touched me, found only because we share a surname. Your memory is a blessing to those who knew you and your existence is appreciated by someone who never knew you.

I am still here and I will remember you so long as my memory works. Rest in peace Maile Rachel Hale. Much respect from David J Hale

2o years and even though we only share the family name of Hale, I will not forget you. May your memory be an inspiration to those who love you.

18 years have passed and I wonder what you would have achieved in life. I never had the honor to know you. We share a surname and maybe somewhere we are related. You are remembered even by folks who never met you. May your memory be a blessing.

Your untimely passing on September 11, 2001 left me heartbroken. A beautiful person like you couldnt have died in vain.
My deepest condolences..
