Mr Blackburn was deputy headmaster at St Wilfrid's when I attended during the seventies and eighties.
Reminiscing this evening, I searched his name and came upon this page.
May I offer my love and condolences to all of Mr Blackburn's family and friends. I was a little bit in awe of him, but remember his humility before God, which I have tried to emulate throughout my adult life.

Malcolm "Bro"...he always called me Mark "Lad", was a great human being in every respect. Respect is the key word. We nicknamed him "God", as a schoolboy comment on his deeply held religious affiliation. His affectionate nickname was only enhanced, with his concise, cogent, magical explanation of chemistry.
