Malcolm B. Hope, “Johnny”, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 12, 2003. He was 95.

He was born September 17, 1907 in Summershade, KY. He was the son of Asberry and Nealie (Arterburn) Hope. He married Lucille Perkins on April 4, 1931. They were happily married for 72 years. They lived in Kentucky until moving to Anderson in 1946.

He worked most of his life as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union, Local 1016. He attended North Anderson Church of God for over 50 years, serving as an usher. He was a quiet man, a gentleman, and he loved the Lord and life. He also enjoyed gardening and traveling with his wife.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Richard Hope and daughter-in-law, Marilyn. He was known as “pap-pa” to 5 grandchildren, Cindy Johnson, Sharon (husband, Rick) Bryant, Brenda (husband, Rob) Fattig, Mark Hope and Jane Hope, all of Anderson. He also had 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Voss G. Hope; and a sister, Nora Depp.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 Friday p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Anderson Church of God.
