Not sure what to say?

A great teacher and influence; a truly special man of integrity and peerless grace. A beacon to his family and his community. Thank you Dr. Howell for all the gifts you gave especially your humanity that you shared with all of us.

My sincere condolences to your family for the loss of your love one. May the God of comfort be with you during this sad occasion and may his loving words at John 6:40 console your heart.

Rest in peace Dean Howell. A great educator, leader, patriot and gentleman. Godspeed.

Dr. Howell was a man of unusual understanding and service to the students at South, as i knew him, and one of unusual modesty and interest in expanding his experience of human adventure a number of years later when, after retirement from the university, he worked for a time as a clerk at the newspaper.

I enjoyed his acquaintance, appreciated his help and friendship when he was a dean, and respected his common sense and willingness to help his students.

He and Corinne instilled in their children values. One endearing memory of Dr. Howell involves the death of my own father. Malcolm and Corrine saw that no one in our family had to lift a finger for the family gathering to follow my dad's funeral. They provided a table full of homemade food so that all the relatives could gather...
