Malcolm Duane McCauley, 52, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his wife, and love of his life, Ginger Faye Meadows; and his father, P.E. McCauley. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends whom Duane had touched in many ways throughout his life.

Duane truly loved the mountains and beaches. He hiked the Appalachian Trail at 15 years old. He loved to travel, even taught English in Japan. Duane shared his life with a close circle of friends and family. He enjoyed working at Reid's and was proud to be included as part of its family too. He was blessed to have a great friend in Sara Dewitt. Duane received wonderful care while in Martha Jefferson Hospital by Dr. Gordon Morris and the nursing staff. Duane is survived by his mother, Lavern Critzer McCauley; sisters, Pamela McCauley Jarrell and Paula McCauley Pugh and their spouses, Jimmy and Bryant; 10 nieces and nephews; and their 12 children. Not sure what to say?

I just learned of the passing of my best friend on Azalea Drive from the time Duane and I were 6 years old until I moved from Charlottesville at age 14. We played countless games of football and baseball, explored the woods and streams around Azalea Park and Morse Creek, and spent thousands of hours together. He was a great friend who, even at such a young age, would stand by you through thick and thin. Although the years slipped by and we hadn't seen one another since I visited him while...

I was so sorry to hear about Duane's passing. We had some great memories whether it was as neighborhood kids, schools friends or church members. We had not seen each other in many years but I did think of him fondly. My family's prayers are with you all.

Laverne, Pam, and Paula

I would like to express my sincere condolences to all in the passing of Duane, I have known Duane since we were in grade school together and while throughout the years we would pass in and out of each other's lives I can honestly say he was one of my oldest and dearest friends. We shared a lot of great times together!
The poem that he authored, coupled with the song he requested his niece to sing at his wake speaks volumes to the man. He suffered for...

I am so sad to hear of Duane's death. I have not seen him in many years, but have fond memories of our times together in school. Your family will be in my prayers.

My condolences to the McCauley family and may you all find comfort in Psalms 46:1.

Duane is at peace now...with the Lord.... May God bless his family and friends

We can only say that God blessed us when he brought Duane into our lives. He was one of the most generous, caring people this world has ever seen and we will miss him terribly. He was a true freind and we know he will be waiting in heaven. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his mother and family.

Lavern, Pam and Paula,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I pray you find comfort. Love,
Deni
