I have only just come across this website. I worked for Malcolm as a young mathematician in the 1980´s. He was an excellent boss and his encouragement and enthusiasm undoubtedly helped me get my first promotion - very proud to have received a " box A " work assessment from him at the end of the year I worked for him. As well as a brilliant person work wise, he was also great fun for example he once helped me move a bed into my first house (which was too big to take up the stairs) using rope...

My fondest memories of Malcolm come with kids attached. He was the best father figure I have ever met. He was always available for giving a helping hand or to explain a difficult subject. His patience was amazing. He will be greatly missed.

That was a wonderful write-up of Malcolm's life. I remember him best as one of the most active and fun dads at the EE playgroup events, always willing to help out with everything and interact with the kids. Malcolm was really a good man and will be missed by everyone who knew him. I'm so sorry to hear that he's gone.

These are my remembrances of Malcolm. He made a big impression on me. I am so glad that he came into my sister's life so that I had a chance to know him.
I'll start by saying that I wish I could have met his parents. They must have been really special people, because they raised an incredible individual. Malcolm was so wise, and so humble, yet assertive as required. He was also very willing to participate in life, whether it be goofing around with kids, or joining a church group and...

Please accept my condolences for your loss of Malcolm. I haven't been in touch with Malcolm in recent years, but still think of him often. I did share an office with him and another worker in the early 1980's and we often lunched together. Though I knew of him before becoming office mates, I certainly came to respect him more during this time not only because of his brilliance in mathematics and associated areas, but, in addition, what a great guy he was.
