Not sure what to say?

I loved Mamie like family. She never missed any of my shows and it was always a delight to see her smiling face in the audience. We have a digital picture frame with thousands of pics and just this morning Mamie's smiling face appeared. She was a truly classy lady.

Mamie was one of the coolest people I've ever met. Her and Anthony never missed my performances at the Inn at the Park. They attended every Easter party at our house and also accompanied us to my 60th birthday party in New Orleans. I wish she could have lived forever.

My Dear Mamie,

Like a sweet sunami you engulfed my life.
To each other, a safe harbor we became.
You were my sun and I your moon.
And the fluid of life for each other we happily bore.

And as you had come,
back into the ocean, suddenly was swept your sweet essence,
leaving me bare and broken
with only your loving, fantastic, and amazing memories the anchor.

We always said that we would never be apart.
I held my promise but death cheated you from...

Dear Anthony,
I am sorry you lost Mamie. She was blessed to have you to care for her.
I used to serve my country by riding shotgun with my husband Jay Stansell, a Deputy Sheriff, when he transported prisoners. Otherwise, the county of Gaines in Texas would have had to pay someone to go with Jay, I was free. Anyway, we had gone to San Diego to pick up a prisoner and Jay insisted that I go with him to visit his ex in-laws. I tried to beg out of it but he insisted, and I am glad,...

Mamie,
I will always remember your face, your smile, your eyes, and your welcoming into your home. I always enjoyed being in your home and being your son-in-law. I could never beat you at ping pong unless you were off a little that day. I dearly loved your cooking and all the good meals I had at your house. I am sorry that I have not seen very much of you in the recent past. I will miss you very much. I am glad I got to see you one last time in August and I am very glad I met...

I got to know Mamie playing duplicate bridge. Like most things she did, she did it well.

Mamie is an example of a life lived well. She showed her respect for you and for life by always looking terific, being a good listener, and being both kind and nobody's fool. I particularly loved her way of speaking directly--and even disconcertingly--on a subject on which she had a strong opinion. She was incapable of phoneyness. Dear Mamie, how I will miss you.

We'll all miss Mamie. We knew her through her love of dogs - Sam, Bates, Lulu - and we used to always say "Hello" as we went by with our own dogs. She so enjoyed seeing the dogs play together!

Almost the very first memory I have of our neighborhood when looking at the house we finally bought, is her dog Sam sleeping in the street (!) and us having to drive around him (a pretty common occurrence, I understand).

Mamie, I knew that you were special from the time that Charlie and I first met you. Your eyes beamed with wonderment and life when we first spoke. You were always a welcome sight on those impromptu meetings with your beautiful presence and your interesting stories. You always had an eagerness towards life and its experiences, and no matter what you were going through, your attitude was never one of bitterness or disappointment. What saddens me most is that our time together as friends was...

Anthony,
What a pleasure to have known Mamie. Mamie was an enthralling story teller and perfect hostess. Her mischievous wit and charm will be greatly missed. I will always cherish those Friday dinners at the Park and time at the house.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
