Manford Hayes "Buck" Smith

Mr. Manford Hayes "Buck" Smith, age 70, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on June 21, 1940, Gratz, Kentucky, the son of Nim & Pauline (Beverly) Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised in Gratz, Kentucky, & had resided in Vevay, Indiana, since 1972. He was united in marriage on November 25, 1967, at the Mount Sterling Baptist Church to Polly June Martin & to this union arrived a son to bless their home. Manford & Polly enjoyed nearly 18 years of marriage until her death on August 11, 1985. On May 27, 1987, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Gullion in Nashville, Tennessee. Manford was a truck driver for the Switzerland County Highway Department & retired as custodian of the Switzerland County Courthouse after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Gratz Baptist Church in Gratz, Kentucky. Manford will remembered for his love of country music & western movies. Manford died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 7:45 am at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Manford will be lovingly remembered by his son: Robert Nim "Robbie" Smith & his wife: Peggy of East Enterprise, Indiana; his step-sons: William Gullion & his wife: Sandy of Deputy, Indiana; Wayne Gullion & his wife: Julia of Carrollton, Kentucky; his step-daughters: Mary Pohlman of Patriot, Indiana; Georgia Richards & her husband: Troy of Vevay, Indiana; Karen Peelman & her husband: Louis of Vevay, Indiana; his granddaughter: Anabel Smith of East Enterprise, Indiana; his brothers: Donald Winters of Morning View, Kentucky; Oldham Smith of Owenton, Kentucky; his sisters: Nannie Presnell of Frankfort, Kentucky; Glenna Sue Smith of Frankfort, Kentucky; Wanda Browning of Pleasureville, Kentucky; Wilma Kinman of Carrollton, Kentucky; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Nim & Pauline (Beverly) Smith; his first wife: Polly June Smith; his sister: Vera M. Towles; his brother: Albert Lee Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 2:00 pm, by Rev. Ronald Sandidge at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
