Not sure what to say?

I was sadden by learning of 'POPPEE' Shapiro's passing on my day coming back to work. All i could think of is my memories of him at Temple Emanuel and his dedication to his beloved wife. THANK-YOU family for allowing Mr Shapiro to FOLLOW- me- over from the TEMPLE into the Lutheran home. I trust that poppee is now with his beloved wife and inside the REAL Temple Emanuel.

Shalom,
Abraham Traynham(1 of his nurses)

When my family bought Sams on the Market from the Shapiro’s I took Manis’s role as the buyer/ merchandiser. He was very kind and patient with me. I can still remember him walking around the store with a tape measure around his neck. He had a great since of humor! Manis played a big part in educating me about business. The things he taught me are immeasurable. He was one of my favorite mentors. God rest his kind sole.

Manis was my mother's (Helen Schlossberg) first cousin. She visited him during her last trip to Roanoke in 1988.

When I told my father Julius that his brother Manis had passed away his first remark was he hope he didn't suffer. I doubt there were many brothers closer then they were. He also loved his brother Jack and sister Eva who have both passed away. Uncle Manis will be missed by many nieces and nephews

My dad Jack Shapiro was Manis little brother and loved him very much. They always had great conversations together whether on the phone or in person. Dad would always have to wait until Uncle Manis soap operas were over before talking to him on the phone. Uncle Manis was one of the kindest men and we never heard a mean word from his mouth. Uncle Manis and my father were friends co-workers, brothers and best buddies. Uncle Manis was a beautiful person and will surly be missed by the...

My Dad, Julius Shapiro, was Uncle Manis's brother, friend and business partner for 97 years. They spent so much of their lives together and never had a cross word. My father said Uncle Manis was his friend not just his brother. They enjoyed an extraordinary relationship for almost a century. My Dad will miss their 2pm phone calls. Uncle Manis, Uncle Jack, and Aunt Eva (Uncle Manis's bother and sister) all remain in the heart of my father.

Mr. Shapiro was my Dad's neighbor at Brandon Oaks. He always had a smile and a kind word.
My condolences to the family.
I am sure your memories will help sustain you at this time.

As Manis was my second cousin, I am truly sorry to hear of his passing, he was a sweet kind man and he will be missed

Very sorry to hear about Mr. Shapiro. My family used Sam's for our uniform supplier and we really appreciated the people who work there after all these years. My thoughts are with you right now. I hope you find comfort in this difficult time, I find it in the scriptures. - 2 Cor. 1:3, 4

my warmest thoughts to the family.
