Manly Yates Brunt, Jr.

When I was a teenager in the 1960s, I used to give sailing lessons to make a few extra bucks. That's how I met Dr. Brunt. He had just purchased a 19-foot lightning, had never sailed before, and was in the process of sailing off into a brewing thunder storm. I stepped in and we began a lovely friendship. Manly would often schedule a lesson on a weekend. He would arrive each week with a different companion and a wonderful picnic lunch. We spent many hours sailing out of Brant Beach Yacht Club,...

I belatedly viewed this obituary with some measure of shock and a greater measure of sadness...for Dr. Brunt has been a true friend and trusted confidant for many years. My heartfelt condolences to his family...for his passing will no doubt be a significant loss to all who knew him...no doubt he has left behind many fond memories for all.
