Loving Adventure
Manuel Gomez Jr. could hardly pass up an adventure. A vice president at Fuji Bank, Mr. Gomez, 42, spent his off hours scuba diving, mountain climbing, motorcycling, golfing and piloting his own Cherokee Piper.

His wife, Lori, said that on one of their first dates, Mr. Gomez took her on an aerial tour of Puerto Rico, where she was living. Mr. Gomez hired a pilot to take them out in a small plane, and it was then that he decided to take flying lessons. They would have celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary next month. "He had such beautiful, warm eyes," Mrs. Gomez said through sobs from her home in Brooklyn.

On Sept. 11, Mr. Gomez called his wife from the 80th floor of 2 World Trade Center, where he worked, and told her about the attack, and how he was helping to evacuate people. When she saw the attack on television, she called him to tell him to get out immediately. He told her he would.

A year ago, he flew his mother, Gladys Alma, to Virginia in his plane. "I saw him so confident, so intelligent," Ms. Alma said. "I was so proud of him. I gave him a kiss."

Not sure what to say?

I knew about Manny when I asked my great grandmother about the 9/11 attacks and she said they both went to church together and were friends. She said she called him during the tragedy and was heartbroken about the event. May he rest in peace AMEN

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

I met Manny in 1987 when we worked together at Brown & Wood in 1 WTC. He always wore a smile, possessed a willingness to help anyone in need, and had a great sense of humor. He was confident and extremely intelligent. I recall I was struggling to learn a computer process and he wrote out a hilarious set of step-by-step instructions, complete with drawings, to help me learn the program. I am still deeply saddened by his untimely passing. Manny was selfless and had a strong faith in God, and...
