San Antonio, Texas
Apr 13, 1928 – May 28, 2020 (Age 92)
Manuel G. Prado of San Antonio, Texas born on April 13, 1928 went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2020 at the age of 92. He is preceded by his parents, Guadalupe Prado and Isabel Nuncio Garcia; his beloved wife, Consuelo Latigo Prado; two of his children, Alfred “Freddy” Prado and Marie Vargas; his sister, Elodia Sanders, and her husband, Willie; brother in law, Rudy Sanders; infant grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ian Castillo; his partner and dear friend for many years, Maria Mercedes Arellano.
Manuel served in the United States Navy from February 4, 1946 to June 28, 1953. He continued as a civil servant at Kelly Air Force Base until his retirement in 1984. In 1953 Manuel married the love of his life, Consuelo Latigo Prado and the two shared 40 years of marriage and nine children. They were loved dearly by many and to those that knew them best, they were known as “Mom and Pop”. He was also a proud member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Pop loved to watch professional sports games. He was an avid baseball fan and attended many games of the San Antonio Missions and cheered on the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was also a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Along with sports, he also relaxed watching classic Hollywood movies of which one was always showing on the tv when you walked into his household. He had tremendous graciousness with his home, always having an open door for everyone he loved, no questions asked. Manuel loved listening to Ranchera and Tejano music and getting people to laugh at his silly jokes no matter how many times he repeated them.
Pop is lovingly remembered by his children: sons, David Prado (Diana), Victor Prado, Robert Charles Prado, and John Henry Prado (Martha); daughters, Diana Adair (Rene), Ann Castillo (John), and Catherine Prado (Alex); son in law, Santos Vargas; siblings, Margarita Sanders, Elisa Beltran (Juan), Joe Salazar (Patsy), Luz Fernando Prado (Hermelinda), and Francisco Prado; loving nieces, nephews, and other treasured extended family and friends.
Pop always took pride in his family, especially his grandchildren, they are the ones that stole his heart and attention. Grandpa leaves behind 17 grandchildren: Linda Marinik, David Wayne Prado, Rebecca Melton, Kimberley Rae Adair, Cynthia Anne Robalino, Victor Michael Prado, Viola Mercedes Prado, Veronica Zuniga, Bobby Romero, Vanessa Tovar, Amber Vargas, Ashlie Vargas, Manuelito Prado, Lara Prado, Sean Castillo, Victoria Dawn Prado, and Analilia Consuelo Prado; 16 great-grandchildren: Brandon Cardenas, Blake Cardenas, Joseph Gomez, Tristan Gomez, Zoe Robalino, Jasmine Amanda Salinas, Gilbert Damian Salinas, Jeremiah Prado, Brock Melton and Leah Melton, Katelin Romero, Jacob Romero, Robert Thomas Romero, Analyssa Zuniga, Ruby Zuniga, and Abel Antonio Zuniga; 2 great-great-grandchildren: Jayden June Salinas and Lucien Everett Salinas.

My deepest condolences to the Prado family, he will definitely be missed, I alway remember his jokes and one liners in fact I think John and I heard all of them on a road trip to see the Astros. So when I would see him or here his name it put a smile on my face. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
