Not sure what to say?

Mary, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your Family. I learned so much from Marc during my time on the HSF board. I fondly remember the Christmas parties that you all had at your house. He was a wonderful man that helped many people.

My sincere sympathy is sent out to the family of Marc Dettmann. After reading his obituary, I understand that Marc was a very accomplished person with many talents and interests throughout his life. Although I did not have the pleasure of knowing Marc personally, his father Karl was my godfather.

We are so saddened to hear this. We remember meeting Marc and Mary at the Clifton Inn wine cellar when Marc interviewed for his position at HSF! At that night we knew that Marc was a remarkable man and person. Mary, may you and your family be comforted that Marc is at peace.

I had the privilege of working with Marc while at UVA. His quiet manner and thoughtful approach was beyond measure. May your memories bring you peace.

Mr. Dettmann was a very kind man. I remember meeting him on April 10, 2000, we were both starting our 1st day at Health Services Foundation. He will truly be missed. Sending prayers to his family.

Mary and children, I am so sorry for your loss. Marc and I were classmates at Harvard Law School and roommates in the summer of 1978 when we were law clerks in Minneapolis. He was highly intelligent and super nice guy. I'm sorry you lost him way too soon.

I’ll never forget meeting Mary at Brownsville Elementary, we clicked, it was a Midwest Chicago connection and immediate. I was a newlywed relocated to Cville and missing my family. Mary and Marc welcomed my husband and I like we were family from day one. From dinners to laundry to watching kids to borrowing cars. Mary was my mentor in education, Marc was our mentor in life. There was time when jobs and graduation were to separate my husband and I and their immediate response was, live...

I was very saddened to learn of Marc's recent passing. He was a consistently kind and supportive individual to those at the HSF (now UPG) and the UVA School of Medicine -- and his diagnoses and the associated struggles were particularly tragic given his intellect, skills, and abilities. I know those struggles have been difficult for the entire family, and wish everyone peace and sincere condolences.

I was very saddened to learn of Marc’s passing. We were friends and colleagues of the Practice Plan Roundtable while Marc was leading practice plans at WI and VA. We shared a lot of good times over the years. Marc will be missed my all who knew him. My condolences to all Marc’s family.
