Marc St. Louis Obituary
Marc Dana St. Louis - September 28, 1954 to September 17, 2018. Our dear Marc passed away on Monday morning, September 17, 2018, at home surrounded by his family and faithful Labrador companion, Cubbie. His last days were spent with his four grandsons and family on his property in Templeton. They enjoyed some of Marc's many favorite activities including swimming, biking, and barbecuing. Marc was the son of Ann Winthrop and Charles St. Louis. He was the youngest of four children and grew up in Chicago with his brother, Charles and sisters, Cynthia and Abbie. Upon graduation from Evanston High School, Evanston, Illinois, Marc joined the U.S. Army. During his Army years, he was stationed at Fort Hunter Liggett and was in awe of the beauty and peacefulness of its' surroundings and hoped to return to the area someday. In the Army, Marc was a Communication Specialist. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he joined his brother Charles in Nevada City, California to help him with his retail shop. He also wanted to dedicate this time to pursue his education. After two years of junior college, Marc was accepted to University of California, Berkeley where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he was hired by a heavy equipment dealer in the Valley where he worked for a few years before beginning his association with Quinn Company where he remained a loyal employee for 24 years. Marc met his wife, Lera in 1987. They were introduced by mutual friends and remained together for the next 30 years. Marc gladly accepted the role of becoming a husband and father to Lera's two children: Angella and Jake. As a family, they traveled to Yosemite every year to view God's incredible work as well as many other destinations throughout the years. Marc helped guide Angella and Jake through their college years and to their very successful adult lives. Marc loved life. He and Lera moved back to Templeton in 2006 and fulfilled his dream of living in the country near Fort Hunter Liggett. In the last 14 years, he had a new lease on what he loved through the power of "Friends of Bill." He gave generously of his time and volunteered relentlessly to help others in need. He loved to volunteer as a Friend of the California Mid-State Fair and Heritage Foundation. He loved the challenge of fitness and on most days of the week, he bicycled 20 miles a day through the Templeton countryside. Again, he was enjoying God's beautiful creation. Lastly, his most exciting new venture was to support his grandsons, whether it be watching a robotics competition or walking through the creek at their home looking for signs of deer. His lasting impact will be his strength and love for his family. Marc is survived by his wife, Lera St. Louis; his mother, Ann Winthrop; daughter, Angella (Cezar) Rossel; son, Jake (Katie) Root; grandsons: Jacob, Brodie, Hunter and Wyatt; sisters: Cynthia (Bob) Howse and Abbie (Ed) Krakowski; nephew, Steve (Sue) St. Louis; niece, Allison (Brian) Entner; and many more loved ones.
